What is Localized Weather & Stormfronts Mod 1.10.2?

If you’ve played Minecraft long enough for the weather to change, you probably have noticed there really isn’t much of a difference. If you play Minecraft with no mods, it doesn’t matter whether the weather outside if snowing, raining, etc., it doesn’t really have any effect on your character or gameplay.

Actually, the only effects the weather might have is on other mods you might be using, but that’s only a small margin of players. The Localized Weather & Stormfronts Mod changes how the weather effects your gameplay and character even though it doesn’t change the actual weather of Minecraft too much. You will even be able to see the storms and changes of weather from far away so you can prepare for them and they don’t just appear out of nowhere.

If you are using mods which will be affected by Minecraft’s weather, it might not really matter to you but at least you’ll have a way of seeing the weather coming. It adds an under layer of realism to Minecraft, which is pretty rare. The Localized Weather & Stormfronts Minecraft add on will let you be able to actually look up at the sky and see what kind of weather is heading your way, or already upon you. In normal, mod free Minecraft, you can’t see any type of weather comings towards you and it just pops up randomly without warning, no matter the time of day. (At least the snow stays where it should be.)

What Else Does It Do?

The Localized Weather & Stormfronts Mod 1.10.2 actually changes up the blocky, normal clouds you’d see and replaces them with clouds that actually move, shift, and swirl just like real clouds. Yes, there is even particle based rain and snow. Get this, the rain and snow actually move along with whatever direction the wind is moving. Yes! This Mod even adds wind to Minecraft! If you want to, you can change the weather by using a weather machine block. The weather machine block can create blizzards, localized storms, and other such weather effects anywhere you’d like.

Features

  • See weather changes from a distance.
  • New, realistic clouds.
  • New rain and snow which moves in the wind.
  • Clouds build up more moisture from water and wet biomes.
  • The Mod uses biome temps to make new and nasty storms.
  • Storm looks get improved.
  • New Wind Vane to show which way the wind is blowing.
  • New falling leaf particles and waterfall effects.
  • Snowfall actually falls more gradually and smoothly.

Mod Showcase:

These are the levels of intensity:

  • 0 – 1+ = rain – thunderstorm
  • 1 – 2+ = thunderstorm – high wind (and more rain???)
  • 2 – 3+ = high wind – hail
  • 3 – 4+ = hail – tornado forming
  • 4 – 5+ = tornado forming – F1 tornado

High wind and tornadoes above F1 arent in yet, nor are hurricanes or tropical storms.

Commands:

  • /weather2 volcano create – will spawn a very very WIP volcano at your location, in hyper demo mode, missing lots of planned particle effects
  • /weather2 storm create F1 – will spawn tornado at your location, eg syntax for other storms: Syntax: storm create

Installation:

  • Download and run the latest version of Minecraft Forge
  • Go to Start Menu > Type %appdata%/.minecraft/mods
  • Download the mod
  • Move the downloaded Jar (zip) file into the ‘mods’ folder
  • Done and Enjoy the mod.

Weather2/ConfigMisc.cfg helpfull configurations

Storm_CloudSpawnDelay – PERFORMANCE HELPER: set to somewhere between 5-10 to significantly reduce the amount of cloud particles spawned, should boost framerate if your computer cant handle it.

Storm_IntensityAmplifier – greatly changes how wild the storms will get, set to over 10 for an “apocalypse mode” like situation of many many tornadoes

Storm_Tornado_RefinedGrabRules – set to false to use old block grab rules for tornado (makes them carve into ground like old ways), new ways just strips trees and doesnt harm ground, might also leave wood planks alone i cant remember right now.

Thread_Particle_Process_Delay – set to higher than to slow down the thread that scans around for blocks to enhance with particles, will however impact on visual sexyness
